Swordplay Dungeon Break

Another leftover rep from the past Holiday gaming session.  The kids never get enough Swordplay.  Nick is the Snake shape changer, Maggie the Elf, Bobby the Dwarf, and Dad is the Drow.  The dungeon is Hirst Arts Egyptian and the rules are Chain Reaction Swordplay.  All characters are Rep 4.

  1. Nice little adventure. I have some of the Egyptian moulds from Bruce but not the dungeon ones. I may have to look at getting them at some point.

  2. As someone who started into this hobby via fantasy rpg back in the 80's I have to say: this is sooo cool!
And being a snake shape changer is a sure win.
The last days I have been thinking again about combining WHAA + Swordplay to build something that would suit my vision of fantasy, so this batrep has a good timing.

Is it complicated or very time consuming to build a dungeon with Hirst Arts moulds?

  3. It is not really all that difficult once you get a system down but it does take a little time. Actual hands on time isn't that bad but you have to remain attentive when casting and then you have to dry the blocks which kind of disrupts production.
It is one of those things that is really cool but you will find that you must be in the right mood to do it.

  4. I hope you see this comment, may re-post it more currently if you haven't. Just downloaded the Swordplay rules, and having a lot of fun. Curious if you created your own rules for shape-shifting or if there is some magic rules or such in WHAA or another book I should be rushing to buy.

  5. Macavity, for shape shifting I just let the kids go in and out of shape change as they like. They have different stats in both forms and they can't use weapons armor etc.. in changed form.
For magic in general, you have two options:
    1. Is Warrior Heroes from THW. It is a very complete set of rules that handles entire careers and has a pretty cool magic system.
    2. Song of Blades and Heroes is another good rules set with internal magic. SBH is a very simple but fun set. I'll be posting some reps on it soon.

  6. Thanks very much for your response. Hopefully I'll be able to blog my own adventures before too long (offspring a bit young yet for lots of dedicated time)!
