I just survived a 4 day gaming marathon and I feel great! The only bad thing is I have completely lost track of what is going on around my favorite web hangouts and am really behind on batreps. Here is the second patrol mission that Justo and I played a while back. This is Song of Drums and Shakos and this is a good example of what may happen with a single, well placed shot!
Like it, nice! Good to see more gaming.
ReplyDeleteThe humor always gets me -- love them! This is a really clever way to do battle reports and I just may have to steal it...! After I direct all my friends to this blog, of course!
ReplyDeleteHi Dale! We've been gaming like mad the past few days. Just getting caught up.
ReplyDeleteWWMike: Thanks for dropping by and feel free to steal it, that's what I did! I think it was Brutpaul who was the first to start this madness with the comics and since then I've seen quite a few of us following suite. It is just too convenient not to use it. I just take it to another place and so should you. We want to see some batreps when you're ready!
I like putting in some details from the game by putting some character to the little guys. In some situations you simply know what they would be thinking if they were real. I kind of think I'd be a lot like Jenkins myself.
Yet another great AAR on a beautiful gaming board, keep them coming. I have just got into SDS and I am looking forward to playing a game or two once my Rifles have been pinted.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
VTI
Serious lack of sheep, but a very entertaining batrep!
ReplyDeleteI love games that take such an unexpected turn.

Hey these batreps are good, not really my fav era, but still, these make for a good and fun read, keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteReally good work LTLDad -adding the character to the figures makes all the difference. I loved the "I'll shoot Jenkins!" :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent batrep, Willy. I've been meaning to ask you, what do you use for the gunsmoke? It looks very effective!
ReplyDeleteI only played SDS once. Great game. Frankly, the dialogue and humor to the reports make this a favorite to read. Brilliant.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys. We are certainly having a lot of fun playing these games.
ReplyDeleteveryitalian: Please come by and tell me when you get some reps up, I want to see them!
Whiteface: You bring up a good point. Any of you guys have any idea where I can score some 28mm sheep?
Extraordinarii: You can play this same system in any era. Get out some Romans and play SBH!
We are working on some Romans and Germans right now.
cmnash: I just thought everyone would be about ready to shoot him by now :)
Vampifan: I'm not sure of the official name, but it is the stuff they sell in the old granny stores for stuffing pillows and such.
Paul in Houston: It is high time you played it twice! If you are interested just say the word and the lads and I will set up a session for you!
I'm leaving for Afghanistan in 3 weeks. Doubt my wife will consent to me giving up time at this point. All seriousness, spending my time at home until I leave. Gaming will take a year off. With luck, I'll keep up with this blog and TMP

@LTL Dad: Wargames Foundry has 28mm sheep. I think the blister includes 4 sheep, one dog and a shepherd.
ReplyDeletePS: I knew there was another company selling 28mm animals. Mega Miniatures. 10 Sheeps without any dogs or shepherds and probaly cheaper than Foundry.
ReplyDeleteThanks Whiteface! I'll get on this project soon!
ReplyDeleteAwesome as always!
ReplyDeleteExcelent AAR!
ReplyDeleteBravo.
